Forest-Raised
Our forest-raised pork is far from the pork you get in the store, both in taste and the way that it was raised. We do not have any confinement houses etc. just pigs running around in the woods and playing in the dirt. They have tons of space to root and wallow which allows them to eat a more natural diet. They get to be a pig and in exchange we get the best pork we will ever have.
Feeder Pigs
We get our feeder pigs from a Mockingbird Farm, a local farm at about 8 weeks of age after they are weened. This farm raises organic-fed pork themselves, so we know they exactly how they have been produced. Our pigs are raised in the wooded areas on our property and we move them around every few weeks to a new spot so they always have a fresh area to eat and play.
Acorns, Grubs and Local Organic Grains
They eat a ton of acorns from our Post Oak trees which adds to their natural diet along with whatever they can find growing above and below the ground. We feed them USDA Certified Organic grains which we get from our local feed mill, Coyote Creek in Elgin Texas.
Other Cuts
We harvest pigs a few times a year, so let us know if you would like any special cuts.
Whole/Half Pigs
We generally do not offer whole or half pigs, but may be able to arrange them under specific situations. Please reach out if you are interested in learning more.
