Our Process
We buy our day-old chicks from a local hatchery Ideal Poultry. When the chicks come home we place them in a brooder for the first two weeks while they grow out their feathers. We feed them organic feed from our local organic feed mill, Coyote Creek from day one. After those two weeks we move them to the pasture where they are protected by one of our livestock guardian dogs. While on pasture they are moved daily so they can have fresh grass and bugs. They are also fed the same organic grains as while they were in the brooder. When they are ready for harvest, we take them to our local butcher, Burgundy Pastured Poultry near Waco Texas.
Health Benefits
Pasture-raised chicken has been shown to be higher in Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamins such as A, D and E and lower in saturated fats. Plus they just taste soooo much better!
Availability
We have chicken available all year, however some cuts, as well as whole chickens, do tend to sell out. If you would like to reserve whole chickens for the next processing date, contact us using the “Ask A Question” button above.
